My Family and I deeply appreciate the broad support that we have received during this campaign. Extended family, old friends, and new friends alike, have expressed their endorsements through their time, financial support, well-wishes, and petition signatures, and I am eternally grateful for your loyalty, encouragement and assistance.

However, on Monday July 9th, I received a letter from the Secretary of State informing me that I had failed to acquire enough signatures to qualify for a place on the General Election ballot in November. Unfortunately, this was the direct result of a concerted effort within the campaign staff to derail the campaign. By her own admittance, a trusted, senior-level staffer, withheld several hundred signatures that likely would have been the difference in qualifying for the ballot in the November General Election. Nonetheless, I acknowledge that I am ultimately responsible for the failure of the campaign, and while there is a measure of personal disappointment, I am most disappointed that the efforts of everyone who gave so unselfishly to the campaign, will be in vain. For that I offer my sincerest apology.

Even though there are other avenues available to me to be a candidate in 2012, after careful consideration I believe the prudent thing is to suspend my 2012 campaign for US Congress, and offer my time, experience and abilities to other candidates in this upcoming election. This will also allow me the time to consider how the knowledge and experience I have gained can best be utilized in the future.

If I have any request, it is that you would make these efforts and pending decisions a matter of prayer. Our country is in dire straits, and we are in need of leaders of character. Above all, we are a country in need of a National Revival. I do not just love this country. I have a real burden for it and feel that it is fast slipping toward a point of no return. Please pray that I will be a part of the solution, that my path will be clearly defined, and that I will be willing to participate at whatever level I am called upon.
